Srinagar is a major tourist attraction in the northernmost state of India. It hosts a lot of tourists all year round, but especially during the last months of the year. And with the way these last two years have been, it might not be a surprise when someone books a Jammu to Srinagar flight just to change their surroundings.

For those souls who wish to check out Srinagar in 2022, here is a list of the top five places to include on their bucket list:

1. Dal Lake

The alluring Shikara or the wooden boats that float on the beautiful waters impart a view of the circumference of the lake that promenades the Mughal gardens. The colorful hues of nature and the sunrise and sunsets from Dal Lake are impeccable. If you’re looking for a tranquil escape with your life partner, the Dal Lake certainly checks all the boxes.

2. Jamia Masjid

One of the holiest Islamic mosques in the country, the Jamia Masjid is situated in a bustling city street in Srinagar, the sounds of which magically drown out as you enter the gate. Having 370 wooden pillars with intricate carvings, the mosque reflects Indo-Saracenic architecture. The elegance of the mosque is unmatched in all forms, even expanding to a square garden in the main courtyard.

3. Shankaracharya Temple

Built atop the hill of the same name, the Shankaracharya Temple dates back to 200 BC, making it one of the oldest Hindu temples in the world. This place of worship is significant to both Buddhists and devotees of Lord Shiva. The temple involves a little trek before reaching the entrance and is said to stand on an octagonal pavement. The temple has been renovated several times and the walkways offer a breath-taking view of the valley below.

4. Tulip Garden

A recent addition to Srinagar, the Tulip Garden is another place of solace full of a flowery bloom. The largest of its kind in Asia, this place houses about 60 variants of tulips. When the season is just right, the tulips sprawl in about 12 hectares of area and provide a mesmerising view. A place where you’ll find a stark contrast from the crowded streets of a metropolis when you arrive from your Delhi to Srinagar flight.

5. Shalimar Bagh

The Shalimar Bagh is a true testament to Persian architecture that is sprawled over 31 acres of land. Built on the periphery of the Dal Lake, this garden was aimed to please Queen Noor Jahan by Shehenshah Jahangir. Laden with trees on the sides and a canal flowing through the middle, this garden has its unique beauty that attracts a major crowd off the flights from Delhi to Srinagar.
