One of the most infamous declarations ever pronounced was made by none other than Thomas Jefferson. And the pronouncement is this “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. It is a statement that is Majestic in grandeur, excellent in simplicity, powerful in meaning, life changng in human history.

Yet regarding the latter portion of the declaration, the pursuit of happiness, it is worth noting, that Jefferson does not imply that all of us are guaranteed to be happy by our Creator. He is clear and specific that we have the right to pursue happiness. Whether or not we actually achieve happiness is an entirely different question. It is an individual case by case basis. Some of us will be successful in attaining happiness, and many of us will not be successful. Furthermore, the criteria that decides whether or not we have achieve happiness is set up by every individual and that criteria can change subject to each individual human being.

Ironically, although every individual human being is unique, there are some things that they all share in common. The world as it exists, have in its realm certain realities, and one such reality is the role that money plays in the daily course of human affairs and human interaction. There is a wise saying which states that “money makes the world go around”. This statement is so true that we might as well consider it to be a self-evident truth. So, money being a necessary object necessary for all human beings to have in order to function in the world, is thus a necessary component that determines happiness or the level of happiness.

It, thus, follows that in order to achieve the maximum level of happiness, the money variable in the equation for happiness would have to be maximized. This is where having financial security and financial freedom begin to play a major role. It becomes a critical and exteremely important component of a person’s life. If a person wants to maximize his or her level of happiness, it is absolutely necessary to have financial security and financial freedom.
